Construction in Brazil is far behind developed countries. Most buildings are built with brick and mortar with no technology whatsoever. The idea, then, was to create low-cost housing with steel framing and factory assembly.
- Developed the core product (floor plans, structure design)
- Studied its unit economics
- Reached out to real estate investors
Although investors liked the concept and estimated costs, they usually gave me a timeline of 6 to 12 months to make a decision. This long sales cycle and soft promises killed some momentum.
In the meantime, I was reading about startups non-stop. And I just loved it. The idea that you could build something yourself and make a big impact amazed me. After a while it was a no brainer, I wanted to be in tech!
